Blists Hill Walks

Only a few minutes stroll from Waverley, Willowfield or Court Street are the wide open spaces around Madeley Court – our walks here taking in fine views of landscapes old and new and allowing direct experience of some of the wildlife just beyond your doorstep. see map on the right.

Madeley Court pitmound is typical of the spoil heaps from former coal pits which still dominate the Telford landscape. Densely wooded now that nature is in control again, this fine vantage point overlooks Madeley Court Hotel, the original building of which dates back to the 16th Century.

Squirrels and woodpeckers inhabit these woodlands, with a variety of butterflies seen around the wild flowers in summer months. It is only a short stroll to the nearby balancing pools, with their attendant waterfowl and dragonflies. For the more adventurous, the Rough Park and Silkin Ways allow access to many miles of Public Footpaths which criss-cross Telfords valuable natural open spaces.
