Madeley Woodside and Sutton Hill

This website describes a variety of woodland health walks, all within easy reach of Woodside, Madeley and Sutton Hill. All these routes are close to home, yet give you the oppurtunity to experience some great views, some peace and quiet and maybe even see some of our local wildlife. All this; plus you get to enjoy a healthy walk! So, why not turn off the TV, put down the newspaper and start to explore a bit more of your neighbourhood?

Regular short walks are as good for you as occasional longer ones and the routes shown here allow you to choose - a ten minute stroll, or a fifty minute walk - or more, or less! You decide what you are comfortable with and how much more you may want to explore. The walks shown here all link to other footpaths on Telford's varied 'Rights of Way network'.  These footpaths have a total distance of over 360km and take you through some of Telford's most attractive green spaces.

Did you know that walking for one mile burns as many calories as jogging the same distance, it just takes a little longer!  Regular walking helps to reduce the risks of many health problems and can generally make a walker feel much better, both physically and mentally.  Organised walks are also a great way of meeting new people and finding out about the secret countryside on your doorstep. And it's all free! (To find out more about Walking and Health and locally led walks - visit www.whi.org.uk or phone 01952 597634)
